SAFER St. Lucie is dedicated to business preparedness and continuity and are great collaborative leads for the County.
The State of Florida has an Emergency Support Function (ESF) 18 dedicated to Business and Industry. This function is currently in development in St. Lucie County and will allow a business representative to be stationed at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during disaster activations. The director of the Chamber of Commerce or Economic Development Council is often the point person for this ESF.
This individual will be the access point for information on disaster status, resources available for businesses, share inter and intra county information, as well as business needs. Having this function established at the EOC also allows direct communication about community needs with businesses, allowing funds to be used to support local business.
